Regeneration

Kirkby is already benefiting from the investment flooding into Liverpool as a whole, as the city celebrates its status as European Capital of Culture 2008.

In addition, exciting plans to invest £400m in Kirkby’s long-term regeneration have been drawn up.

The proposal includes:

    -  A new Tesco supermarket
    -  The creation of 2,000 new jobs
    -
Fifty new shops to include Boots, Next and other high street retailers
    -
A 60,000 seat football stadium
    -
A new bus interchange
    -
Improvements to Junction 6 of M57
    -
Improvements to Cherryfield Drive, Bewley Drive and Valley Road

The plans have already received outline planning consent and once the scheme gets the go-ahead it is anticipated being on site in 2009 and completed by 2012.
