Sports Facilities

Within the surrounding area of Kirkby are a number of excellent sporting and leisure facilities.

Nine golf courses, both municipal and private serve the area, together with public and private sports centres.

Located in Kirkby town centre is a public swimming pool with sauna and steam facilities, together with a sports stadium where squash, boxing, a gymnasium and fitness hall are all available. A wide ranging programme of classes is on offer.

Closest of all, however, is Parklands' exclusive gym featuring the latest state-of-the-art fitness equipment. With such a fantastic facility literally on your doorstep you'll have no excuse to stay in shape! 

For those who prefer to watch their sport rather than participate, Liverpool is home to world class football clubs Liverpool and Everton. Tours of stadiums are available. In addition, Everton FC have plans to relocate to Kirkby in the future bringing the beautiful game even closer to home. Red’s shouldn’t feel left out as the town is also home to Liverpool’s Training Academy where the stars of the future are put through their paces.

The metropolis of Liverpool abounds with shops, theatres, restaurants and clubs. The historic Albert Dock on Liverpool’s magnificent waterfront has in recent years been redeveloped and is home to a number of award-winning art galleries, museums and exhibition spaces, together with restaurants and retail facilities.

The architecture of Liverpool is world famous, including the magnificent Anglican and Catholic Cathedrals, reflecting the area’s heritage and importance. Liverpool today is a vibrant exciting city and has been selected as European Capital of Culture 2008.
